I've always has APC UPS in my computer workflow. I've never had a critical need for my UPS until last night.
I was coming home with one of my daughters from basketball practice when all of a sudden there was a bright white flash in the sky followed by a very loud buzzing noise, then the entire neighborhood went dark.
We seem to have a blackout once a year. It's never been too inconvenient all things considered. However, last night I had a client's Drobo at home rebuilding itself after replacing a hard drive. If I hadn't have had that UPS, all of his data on the Drobo would have been lost forever.
The power came back on after about an hour. I was very lucky. I am glad that I bought the APC UPS, they're well worth the money.
