Apple released new Mac Pros and Xserves today featuring Intel's new Penryn 45 nanometer chip architecture. Pricing, configuration and purchasing is available at Apple's website. Of note, it's one week before MacWorld San Francisco. Releasing new computers today surely means that Apple has some big hardware announcements in store for next week. Perhaps it will be the return of the Mac sub-notebook that been buzzing all over the web for the past several months.
One notable option missing from the Mac Pros is a Blu-Ray disk burner which was expected to be an option by now. Apple is a backer of Blu-Ray technology and with Warner Bros. dropping HD-DVD for Blu-Ray, over 70 percent of content providers (movie studios and many television shows) will release their titles on the Blu-Ray format. HD-DVD has most likely seen its last days.
