Apple bows out of NAB 2008

Apple recently announced that they won't have a booth at this year's NAB conference in Las Vegas.  Avid did the same not too long ago.

Apple usually announces new hardware or software at NAB.  What is missing from Apple's software lineup is the successor to Shake.  Apple stopped development of Shake over a year ago.  Its replacement was projected to be released sometime in 2008, presumably during NAB.

Other people are speculating that Apple will buy Avid, or that Avid will buy Final Cut Studio.

Whatever the reason, don't expect to see either with a booth this year.  Spend your time at the RED booth and check out the new "Scarlet" camera they're releasing.  It should be another show stopper.
