A Canadian law student from Montreal has filed a class action law suit claiming misleading tactics by Apple in advertising the capacity of iPods. The complaint states that plaintiff's iPod doesn't have 8GB of capacity, but around 7.5GB out of the box.
Duh.
Any type of storage drive, platter or Flash NAND, loses capacity once it's formatted. They lose capacity before they even have software loaded on them. This is a well known fact and has been covered by numerous frivolous lawsuits over the past several years.
So, in a personal message to the Canadian genius law student I'd like to tell you to read the fine print! Attention to detail is what makes great lawyers. It's all right there on the Tech Specs page of every Apple product that includes some type of storage device.
At least this lawsuit isn't wasting American taxpayers any money.
